TIPS KEMAS BEG SEKOLAH ANAK DARJAH SATU

TIPS KEMAS BEG SEKOLAH ANAK DARJAH SATU

Sebenarnya ini post yang I tulis dekat FB, which untuk membantu kawan-kawan yang ada anak nak masuk darjah satu. TAPI, ramaiiii rupanya share post ni sampai jadi viral. Sort of haha. Traffic jam sekejap FB tu. So I copy balik everything I wrote there, may this post be helpful to all parents out there especially yang ada anak darjah 1-2.

TIPS KEMAS BEG SEKOLAH ANAK DARJAH SATU. Lagi-lagi boys hehe. Sebenarnya applicable je untuk lower primary, sampai budak-budak besar sikit dan pandai urus buku and barang-barang sekolah. 2017, Aiman darjah satu and Adam dah darjah dua, so adalah pengalaman sikit yang kita belajar dari tahun 2016 dulu hehe.

KEDAI ALAT TULIS MUMMY

Ini kalau hilang stationery, nak mintak baru, Mummy charge lima kupang sorang. Tu dah diskaun dari bookshop sekolah ok. Organize everything in one place. Senang especially for the busy days ahead. This year, crayons and watercolors semua all prepared. Tak macam tahun lepas, tak tau apa Adam belajar apa masa Pendidikan Seni, tau tau time nak exam ada yang kena guna crayons, ada yang watercolors, ada yang kertas warna and etc. Ha, kelam kabut masa tu nak pilih soalan mana nak jawab sebab bahan tak cukup hehe.

Plus, bila letak setempat ni mudah untuk orang lain tolong jugak. Sebab next year, ada baby, kalau Mummy tak sempat tengok, boleh mintak tolong Ayah, Maktok ke Tokwan ke and senang nak bagitau dekat mana barang-barang. Terutamanya the daddy. Kalau kita minta tolong cari barang, kena exact location tu dengan pandangan berapa degree ahahaha. Sebab dia takkan tengok tepi sikit ke, bawah sikit ke, belakang sikit ke. Heheh.

NAME STICKER LABELS

Jimat masa menulis hehe. Big and bold, ini kalau hilang juga taktau nak kata apa la. Kalau tersalah masuk beg kawan ke apa, senang kawan nak perasan and boleh pulangkan balik hehe. Tahun lepas rajin tulis each and every book, tapi tahun dua anak sekolah hahaha sudah tiada keupayaan nak tulis. DIY sticker senang. Tak cukup boleh print lagi.

LABEL BARANG-BARANG

This year Mummy labelkan semuaaaa barang. Termasuklah 48 batang pensil warna sorang, dua orang dah 96 batang. Yerlah, kalau anak kita pakai Faber Castel, kawan sebelah pakai sama, dahhh tiba-tiba dalam box tu ada dua warna biru la, merah la. So semua benda I label.

Dengan pesanan berulang kali, "bawa balik barang-barang yang ada label nama saja. sebab anak mummy dengan ayah nama dia Adam Haris and Aiman Haris only". Tu pun Aiman jawab, "kalau barang baru beli from bookshop, takda sticker? so tinggallah dekat sekolah". Lepas tu dia kata kalau kawan cabut sticker, barang nak tinggal dekat sekolah jugak ke. Isk, banyak pulak kebarangkalian dia.

STICKER LABELS

Waterproof. Tulisan tak payah lengkoi lengkoi sangatlah. Biar clear clean bold. Senang anak kita baca, senang kawan-kawan dia baca jugak. Yang tanya mana buat sticker silver ni, I buat dekat Ikano. Yang ni kecik je, just nice untuk label barang-barang sekolah. RM6-7 for 100pcs.

Selalunya booth-booth dekat hypermarket Giant or Tesco ada jugak jual stickers ni. Buat dapat terus. Sticker besar for books je I design and print sendiri, guna sticker paper beli from bookstore.

EMERGENCY MONEY.

RM2 pack & seal. Ini sebenarnya Maktok Adam punya amalan. 😂😂 Kita selit dalam beg belah bawah. Or macam Adam & Adam, dalam bag tu ada satu compartment untuk file, so kita letak dekat situ.

Explain to them what the money for. Selalunya Adam guna kalau time bekal tertinggal, duit belanja lupa bagi or tiba-tiba ada buku tulis yang tak ada then kena beli from bookshop. Or ada la sekali dua dia bagi time donation.

Kena pesan jangan beli benda merapu, jangan tunjuk pada kawan and etc. Ini pun masa awal-awal dulu, Adam pi jadi ceti dekat sekolah. Kerja dok bagi kawan pinjam duit. Tapi kalau dah hari-hari, macam kena pau pulak. So kita orang pesan, "either you jaga your duit, or lepas ni tak ada duit belanja langsung dah." Tapi ni Adam la, sebab dia memang tak beli makanan merapu or jajan. Aiman nanti haha taktau la apa cerita.

EMERGENCY STATIONERY KIT.

Ha, banyak betul emergency pack eh. Tapi percayalah sangat berguna. Tak berat mana pun. Pack duit and pack alat tulis ni sorok je dalam compartment belah dalam beg tu. Adam pernah tertinggal kotak pensel masa exam akhir tahun. Panik Maktok dia hehehe. Tapi dah tau ada spare kit dalam beg sekolah dia, so kurang sikit kerisauan, but still pergi hantar jugak kotak pensel dia. Ni Maktok punya idea jugak. Maybe sebab Maktok cikgu kot hahaha so dah tau dah possibility kes-kes macam ni.

POCKET FILE.

Penting jugak. Pocket file. Sebab budak-budak ni dekat sekolah banyak guna kertas, lagi-lagi standard one during the first month. Banyak drawing, coloring, writing on paper. Tak termasuk derang koyak buku and buat drawing. 😂😂😂 Kadang-kadang tak siap kerja dekat sekolah, cikgu suruh sambung dekat rumah. Kalau tak bagi file, dia suka hati je lipat and sumbat je dekat mana-mana dalam beg. 😂😂 Kadang-kadang crumple kronik kertas tu. 😅

Ni untuk lower primary la, sementara nak pandai urus buku and barang sendiri. So far, pocket file ni bertahan. Bukan plastik lembik tu, nanti lunyai jugak akhirnya. Kalau yang macam box tu, takut berat beg. Sebab Adam dulu, rasa macam beg sekolah dengan tuan pun sama berat hehe.

Adam & Aiman: Your 1st Day of School

Adam & Aiman: Your 1st Day of School

Adam & Aiman Sayang,

(Read WE = Mama & Ayah)

We can't believe that the day has finally come. Like finally-finally-finally. Well, after several episodes of playschool-registration-cancellation, we decided that this must be it. Even until now, we are not quite sure whether we are ready for this, but it comes anyway. You boys are going to school. Ohh, how time has flown.

It just a kindergarten, hello? What's a big deal about it? -- some may say that. To us, this whole thing marks the real beginning of your journey in becoming who you are. Rockstar? Pilot? Engineer? Rugby Player? or whatever you choose to be when you grow up, this is just the beginning of your new adventure. Your first solo year to be exact; independent of Mama, Ayah and everyone else at home.

Weeks before even until the night before your first day of school, I explained that you boys will be going to school, see new friends, learn new things but worry not, you guys will still see each other anyway. Abang nodded quietly, trying to take it all while Adik replied excitedly, "Ok yeay! nak pergi school. Abang don't cry ok? Mummy tinggal sekejap saja". Little did you know Adik, that you will be away from the comfort of home, where everything is new and everyone is different.

On the first day of school, we were all very excited, nervous and scared altogether. I told you, "Don't worry, everything will be fine". Trying to act all cool and relax, the truth is I was the one who worried and scared most. In a sudden, I got worried for so many things. Will you ask for help if you need one? Will things be too hard or too easy or too anything for you? Will the teachers and other kids be nice to you? Will you be brave enough to protect yourself? Will Abang be able to protect Adik and vice versa? And to Aiman particularly, will the teachers understand your boisterous energy? What if you get hungry for every one hour? Oh my Aimannnn.

We walked to the school, very slowly (trying to delay the time eyh?) and both of you held my hands tightly. Stood in front of the glass door and as expected, both of you hesitate to go inside. I guess this the point when you realized that Mama and Ayah will not be staying with you all day, and there your tears waiting to stream down your face anytime soon.

We kissed you both on the forehead, gave you one big hug and waved good-bye *and you burst into tears*. Sorry kids that we just had to walk, leaving the crying-Adam-and-Aiman to the Aunties. But I promised that it will only be a quick few hours away from Mama and Ayah and will pick you up on time.

It's day 4 of school today. Abang looks much better now, happy about going to school but Adik, he doesn't seem to be adapting well. I know you will have struggles, or probably feel insecure, but knowing you Aiman, I believe you will be able to handle whatever comes your way with full of confidence. You just need more time to adjust sayang, Insyaallah everything will be fine.

Very deep inside, it's a bit hard to let you go and to trust someone else to look after you two, even for only a short 4 hours. My heart is torn between wanting to have you all day with me, where I can protect you from the crazy world (it's not everything nice as seen) and wanting to let you go out there so you can experience more things than just being home. But I believed, school will teach you many new things, on top of what you have learned so far. There's a lot more to discover about the world we live in and may this be among the first steps you took, that will bring the very best in you.

Only few important notes that Mama and Ayah want you to remember, always:

1st - It's ok to be different because not everyone in this world will share the common things with you. Even Abang and Adik are different from each other, embrace the difference kids.

2nd - Don't be afraid to try something new because you never know how pleasantly surprise things can be. Try Haris, try the new adventure.

3rd - Always follow the instructions BUT it's ok to speak up when necessary. :) Trust me.

4th - Do anything you want or maybe better than anyone has ever done it as long as you be the best of you. Survival in life is about becoming the best you, not the best in class. Remember that, please.

5th - Mistakes just happen. But don't forget to say sorry and learn from it.

Last but not least, regardless if the notes outgrown from just 5 to hundreds, one last thing that you boys should always remember is your FAMILY.  No matter what, we will always be here, ohhh in fact we are here since you were just one minute old. I'm your Mama first but always your bestfriend, remember that. Ok fine, if Mama says no, go ask Ayah - as the tagline said. I'm OK with that, as long as you talk to any of your family members. Or Maktok, Tok Wan, Tok Abah, Jaja, Yaya and the list goes on. :) We love you kids, to the infinity sampai tak boleh kira!

With lots of love, to the moon and back,

Mama.

STAR Reward System for My Kids

STAR Reward System for My Kids

Yeah, as you read it, we have now implemented a reward system at home. Nothing so complicated about it, one star for every stated expectation that is met. In return, for every 50 stars collected, they can redeem those for treats or outing or whatever that is deemed appropriate and ok by Mummy and Ayah, hehe. At this moment both of them nampak faham macam mana the whole system works. Oklah untuk awal ni, 50 stars tu dalam 2 minggu baru dapat collect, so at least takdaklah hari-hari mintak new toys. :P

We just implemented the system, so I'm not sure how successful it will be (tunggu until end of the month) and not any pitfalls that we have encountered, as yet. I know some people may say, "nanti budak-budak tak ikhlas buat baik" but well at least this whole thing can encourage them to do good and motivate them to achieve their goals (for example Adam, he needs to collect enough stars that to be redeemed for another set of die-cast planes). As simple as that.

Sebab Adam hari-hari mintak Ayah belikan new planes when he probably has more than 50 die-cast planes in collection. It's easier to explain that, "NO, no new planes sebab Adam tak kemas lepas main, Adam tak share dengan Adik and bla bla bla and you can only have a new set when you earned your 50 stars by doing/behaving good", lebih kurang macam itu. So far dia faham and hopefully janganlah ada orang lain tolong beli hahahah nanti dia dapat short cut pulak.

I tak expect them to do basic house chores pun and all the expectations stated I rasa manageable and achievable by them (at least for now). Play nicely, share things, clean up toys, help each other, practise positive behaviours, brush teeth (yang ni confirm ada star, they love it), eat fruits & veggies, or anything simple for kids age 4-5.

I dapat idea ni masa dekat Disneyland. They went bonkers over toys when we were in Hong Kong and we've never seen them like that before. Even masuk Toyrus dekat Malaysia pun I rasa masih berhemah dan bersopan, but not in Disneyland. T_____T Aiman particularly, lepas satu, satu dia nak beli. Hairan. For all we know Aiman has very minimal interest in toys. Aihhhh, disampuk hantu Disneyland ke apa taktau la.

So I just have to explain to them that they can't always get what they want in life. Sometimes things just don't happen the way you want them to be and that Allah gives everything for reason. Also have to tell them that Allah bagi Mummy and Ayah duit not only to buy toys for Adam and Aiman, but also for foods, school, baju, jalan-jalan and whatnot. Adam seems to understand the idea but Aiman well well well, he is the "Mr. Whatever". So whateverrrrr.

Siap pesan balik dekat Mummy, "Mummy cakap lah PLEASE nicely to ALLAH, nanti mesti Dia bagi. Mummy cakap elok-elok tau?"

Fast forward, Mummy pun dapat ilham nak buat reward system ni and so far both of them faham. For example, lepas dinner jer Aiman will come and ask for his 'star' sebab dia dah makan veggies sampai habis. So senang kerja Mummy hehehe...

For time being, we will just stick to this. For long term, maybe kena fikir cara lain sebab tak boleh nak rely on the reward system sepanjang masa. The main idea of this is to build a strong sense of responsibility and to create awareness on how their role impact the rest of the family. But until they can further understand, star chart ni kira dah good beginning. Because little kids respond well with continuous positive words such as "good job, well done, awesome, thank you, great, wonderful and etc."

Brainy Bunch it is. Finally.

Brainy Bunch it is. Finally.

Yer, nampak tu I tulis finally? Haha. Sebab berapa punya banyak dah survey playschool sebelum ni, bayar deposit then burn sebab budak-budak ni tak pergi pun school akhirnya -______-" Tapi next year Adam dah 5 tahun and Aiman 4 tahun, so it's about time for them to go to school. Enough of kesian kena bangun awal every morning (Maktok la tu, asyik kesian je) and enough of takut-sat-lagi-kena-buli-sebab-kecik-lagi (Ayah protective sangat) or apa-apa lah yang takut and kalau tu.

Ni mommy monster dah berkuasa veto. Hahaha. No kesian-kesian, the boys need to mix around with other children and hopefully can help them to develop to their full potential. Insyaallah, academic wise it won't be that hard. ABC, 123, alif-ba-ta, shapes (including those hexagon, pentagon, octagon dah ok), simple Surah(s) also ok, daily Doa(s), basic plus minus Math pun dah ajar, ok lah kot kan. They can eat on their own and dah toilet trained jugak, harap tak ada masalah sangat.

Now it's time to brush up on their social skills. What's going to happen next kena tunggu hari dah masuk sekolah hehehehe. They never been to any daycare before hence I'm expecting several drama episodes to happen for the first few days (or maybe a week of adjustment period? or more? haha) but hopefully everything will be ok for them. I believe the teachers are quite skilled in handling this, so let's leave this matter to the experts.

So now, why Brainy Bunch? Knowing me, I have been so kiasu before, in searching and finding the best playschool for the kids (which they ended up not going to any bahahahhhaha!). But as I get older and wiser (wahhh gitu), I think my tahap kepoh-want-all-tip-top dah turun sikit. I can tolerate to certain percentage of kekurangan that each kindy has.

Frankly speaking, yes there are few schools yang memang tip top in and out (not to mention their fee structure too ahaha) but still they are lacking in one thing. The most important thing of all, Islamic Education. So tak payah nak orang putih sangat, nanti jadi drama Nur Kasih. Adam and Aidil tu. Or in my case Adam and Aiman. Takmo lah kan. So kena lah cari Islamic Montessori.

Being resided in a housing area which Muslim community is not a majority, maka nak cari Islamic playschool agak susah. Most of the options available semua you kena drive luar kawasan. The thing is, my parents are the one picking up my kids from school, so takkan nak mintak drive jauh redah jem semua kan. Fast forward, Brainy Bunch seems to be the closest Islamic Montessori within our radius.

So this is it.

I didn't check for their syllabus, their daily activities and routines, what BBIM is all about, not even their fee structure. So much of pakai redah thing janji anak sekolah T_____T. But I've seen the amazing results from other kids from this school, Masha Allah they are all wonderful.

Just to share with you, I was sold the moment I saw the kids getting ready for solat berjemaah :') Ya Allah, we need this. I don't mind if they want to be a pilot, an astronaut or even a rockstar, janji Iman and Islam kukuh dalam diri. We just need this, our investment in the hereafter. ;)

Black Friday Sale!

Black Friday Sale!

Bahahahha, bunyi macam black metal sangat la kan. Black Friday Sale, well because black commonly associated with black metal and ajaran sesat segala T____T Jangan risau, tiada kena mengena dengan semua itu please. It just a beginning of Christmas shopping season. Lebih kurang permulaan sale hujung tahun la senang cerita. Amareka panggil Black Friday Sale, itu saje.

Ok fine, tak penting semua tu. Yang penting ialah peluang nak beli baju budak-budak at super-duper-huge-discount! Ok, that's the most important thing of all. Baju budak-budak je yang I suka beli, baju mak budak tengok keadaan lah, baju bapak budak lagi tak pernah beli hahaha, itu kena beli dekat Malaysia sebab wajib ukur di badan.

Ada orang dia tak kisah pun on buying discounted items online, tapi ohhh ohhh ohhh, mungkin sebab tak tahan nak tunggu 3-4 minggu untuk dapat barang-barang tu, tapi I sangat kira. Sebab I suka beli banyak hahahahhaha, so by buying things online, I can save a lot berbanding nak beli dekat boutique dalam Malaysia -- yang design kasut, seluar, baju budak adalah tak cool. Kalau ada yang cool design, takde size pulak. Kalau ada size pun, harga normal takde discount, tak best hahahaha. So basically, I can save a lot buying online even though I have to pay for shipping plus tax costs. Campur tolak darab bahagi, still murah jugak and puas hati heheh :P

So now dah start shopping season dekat US, I mula lah rambang mata tengok baju budak-budak online. My favorite online stores are Carter's, Osh Kosh, Gap, Old Navy and Crazy 8. Children Place and Gymboree lawa-lawa jugak, tapi for girls la, boys punya tak berapa sangat kot. Itu ikut taste I la, sebab citarasa orang lain-lain kan.

Dulu I pernah amik order untuk belikan Old Navy, ramai jugak orang order sebab masa tu ada good sale. So this week tengok Carter's and Osh Kosh ada pre Black Friday sale. Apalagi, terus lah open slot untuk amik order mak-mak yang berkenan baju nun jauh di Amareka sana. Tapi I bukak order 48 jam saja hahahahhah sebab terlampau banyak sampai sendiri naik pening nak sort order. So siapa tak dapat join tu, maybe next time.

Tapi jangan risau, maybe esok lusa I nak open for Gap and Old Navy pulak, so tungguuuuu. Bukan tunggu I, tunggu Old Navy web tu up kan sale dia. Sebab selalu t-shirts budak dia dalam 3-4 dollar saje ok. Kalau nasib baik, tshirt 2 dollar pun hado hahahha. Tak kisah la 2 dollar pun, janji lawa, pakai smart :P

Yang penting sekarang nak tunggu parcels ni semua sampai next week. Excited! (yang ni order bulan lepas punya hehehehe) :P

Selamat Berpuasa :)

Selamat Berpuasa :)

Selamat Berpuasa mader fader jentelman semua. Muahahaha sebenarnya I baru tau kewujudan lagu fader mader tu ok, itu pun sebab Adam bukak dekat Youtube. T____T No good no goodddd. Tapi tu lah, walaupun budak-budak ni tengok Youtube Disney Junior tu under close supervision, tapi bila kita lari pi dapoq sat ka, pi buat benda lain sat ka, laju jer tangan sorang-sorang click video lain yang di suggest dekat tepi tu. Tsk!

Ok, berbalik pada topik Selamat Berpuasa, so macam mana semua orang sekarang sebab still pagi lagi ni kan. Dah terkebil-kebil mata kah? Dah berbunyi perut kah? Hopefully everyone is doing good now, up and steady, lagipun berpuasa sebulan saja hokey? Insha Allah kita ada lagi TIGA RATUS hari lebih untuk pulun makan, jika panjang umur. So mari saiko diri, kamon kamon it's only for 29 days okey? Eh bukan saiko, tapi motivate diri, hehe...

Sahur tadi I macam biasa memang tak makan nasi. Pagi tadi minum Herbalife shake, tea mix and plain water. Tapi my husband, memang wajib nasik. Kena pulak lauk special daging dendeng dengan nasi panas, memang kebabom. I tunggu berbuka nanti je nak mengadap daging dendeng feveret itu, pagi-pagi buta memang tak reti nak makan nasi ler kan, satgi sampai ofis konfem mata macam kena gam! Almaklumlah, metabolism badan pun bukan tiptop macam atlet, sebab makan nasik boleh mengundang suasana lemau kronik. Jadinya kena elakkan itu sebab I have reports to submit. Mata mesti mau buka luas-luas baru reports boleh siap.

Lagi satu, tentang pertanyaan "tak buat biskot icing kaler-kaler ker tahun ni?", sesungguhnya sangatlah nak buat. Tapi ada masalah sikit. Dekat rumah ada cookies monsters berkeliaran. I bake 200 bijik, by the time petang tinggal 100 bijik. Tak pernah nak penuh container, abes tu camne nak business haaaa?? So I rasa cara paling logik ialah I bake je and later tengok berapa balang dapat, lepas tu I jual je terus dekat Instagram and blog. Tak berani nak amik order hahaha sebab takut order orang kena makan dengan Adam and Aiman. Sebab dia bite size, so masing-masing dok genggam cookies dalam tangan. Haihhhh manyak susah Mami mau business tau.

Akhir kata, sudah-sudahlah bukak blog masak-masak tu Kak Tonnn, awai lagi nak cari ilham. Kuikuikui!

My sahur. This plus another 1 liter plain water ;) Bangunlah 4.30am, kalau nak bangun 5.30am and baru nak minum semua, memang sekian terima kasih ok.

Day trip to Singapore!

Day trip to Singapore!

Yeahhh, we made a day trip to Singapore. We as in Adam and Me. :P I ada kerja, tapi sikit je kerjanya tu, selebih kami hora-hora sempena Great Singapore Sale. Apa yang boleh disimpulkan di sini, kalau barang budak-budak memang berbaloi-baloi. Tapi kalau adults, I RASA lah kan, Pavilion KLCC One Utama lagi best kot? Tapi taktau lah, taste kita masing-masing berbeza, penampilan pun lain-lain. Tapi yang pasti, barang budak, baby semua tu, memang sangat murah.

Murah satu hal, banyak size and banyak pilihan. Contoh, Pumpkin Patch. Kalau dia kata pants for $16.90 tu, konfem ada at least 10 patterns of the same price yang kita boleh pilih and size pun banyak. Kalau kat KL ni, yang mana dia letak sale tu, alahai, size dah la tak seberapa, pattern pun ala-ala jer gitu. So yeah, sapa-sapa yang memang dah plan nak pi Singapore, silalah borong baju raya anak-anak sekali hehe..

Sesungguhnya Adam memang boleh jadi shopping partner terbaik. Senang bawak dia, senang nak ukur baju, and dia pun tak banyak perangai. Masuk Toysrus bagi dia pilih satu toy, lepas tu dia duduk senyap dalam stroller hehe. Time makan dia makan, time susu dia minum susu then tidoq. :P Next time kita boleh buat lagi ok Adam?

Nama pun day trip, takde lah sempat nak ziarah semua malls yang ada dalam Singapore tu kan. Orchard Rd konon-konon nak pegi before balik pun tak sempat. We spent the whole day dalam Vivo City tu semata-mata, itupun rasa macam tak habes pusing haha. Tak sempat pun nak lepak minum dekat Max Brenner tu. Huhuhu...

Cumanya yang tak best, exchange rate skarang $1 = RM2.50. Sungguh ler mahai. So, pembelian kena focus ikut plan. TAPI TAPI TAPI kan, last minute before boarding gate nak balik KL, sempat jugak beli satu handbag MBMJ dekat duty free zone itu weuweuweuweuweuweu. On sale somemore, terus rasa macam bijak sangat dapat beli. Tapi lepas dah masuk plane, terus rasa macam tak bijak sebab tak beli 5-6 bijik terus lepas tu balik jual dekat blog. Eiiiiii rugi betul rasa. Sebab banyak purse, bags, sunnies, accessories yang on 50% sale! Tax free lagi. Isk isk isk. Sampai hari ni rasa rugi dia T____T

Oh, pada yang email tanya, macam mana I bergerak dalam Singapore tu, naik train ke apa ker, jawapannya, kita orang bedal taxi saja. Last time masa pergi USS also naik taxi, this time pun naik taxi. Sebab ada stroller ler, tak kuasa aih nak fikir naik MRT segala. :P Tapi yer ler, harga dia kebabom jugak. From Changi Airport to City Centre pun dalam $20 jugak, guna meter. Redho je lah, apa nak buat.

Jamie Oliver's Spaghetti Prawns & Rocket Salad Recipe

Jamie Oliver's Spaghetti Prawns & Rocket Salad Recipe

The spicy version. Sebab I add on satu sudu besar Chinese chili paste. Hahaha so memang rasa dia memang sangat menepati tekak Melayu saya. Imagine tiger prawns fresh campur rocket salad campur sambal cili kering, fuiyohhhhh memang sedap ok. Tapi sebenarnya nak masak pasta bahan and recipe lebih kurang je semua. Tinggal lagi nak adjust tahap masam ke, pedas ke, cheese extra ke apa ker kan.

Maka dengan itu, bahan-bahan dan cara-cara masak adalah seperti di bawah. Tapi kita copy ni from Jamie Oliver's website, cuma ada add on 1 sudu besar chili paste okiesss? Ohhh and exclude white wine lah.

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 455 g dried spaghetti
  • Sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1-2 dried red chillies, crumbled
  • 400g peeled raw prawns
  • 2 heaped tablespoons tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese dried chili paste
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 handfuls rocket, roughly chopped

How to:

[1] Cook your spaghetti in a large pan of salted boiling water according to the packet instructions.
[2] Meanwhile, heat 3 good lugs of extra virgin olive oil in a large frying pan and toss in the garlic and chilli.
[3] As the garlic begins to color, add the prawns and sauté them for a minute.
[4] Add tomato purée and Chinese chilli paste, simmer for a couple of minutes.
[5] When the pasta is ready, drain it in a colander, reserving a little of the cooking water.
[6] Toss the spaghetti with the sauce, squeeze in the lemon juice, add half the chopped rocket, adding a little of the reserved cooking water if you want to loosen the sauce a bit, and correct the seasoning.
[7] Divide between 4 plates and sprinkle with the grated lemon zest and the rest of the rocket leaves.

Toddler Boy Clothes

Toddler Boy Clothes

I think my kids have more clothes in their closets that I do right now :P Dulu before ada kids, I ingat "kalau anak boys, apalah nak dress up sangatkan, fashion pun standard je, boringggg" but gosh! the idea I had, was so wronggg. Now that I have two boys, honestly, I spend quite a lot on my kids' clothing. Wuhuhuh -______-" Plus the fact that we live in a media-soaked world, we subconsciously getting into the advertising messages -- email blast of "Mothercare SALE! Extra 10% off for members" kind of thing haha!

Or maybe the fact that I don't budget for their clothes, my shopping trip tends to be rather unfocused and terbabas :P Most often, my kids' seluar OR baju-hunting-mission will turn into a mindless seluar-baju-kasut-spekmata-spenda shopping spree. Major damage case at the end of the day, tskkk...But not la every week heyyyy, every end of month tu ada lah kot :P

But hello, at least I'm not into labels! I will consider all, ranges from the cheaper brands to more expensive labels but not the high end lines. FB online shops, Tesco, Padini, Brands Outlet, H&M, Mothercare, Zara Kids, whatever stores you name it, to me it's about choosing a good quality pieces that will also look great on my kids. Price wise, it’s a whole mixture; whatever I can find that fits the bill, I ok ajer but yes preferably items on sale! Malaysia Darul Sale, remember?

To support the act of my random purchase, I will always go for a bigger size or specifically, using Aiman's size as my benchmark. Because worst case scenario, items can be hand-me-downs from Adik to Abang. Ahahaha terbalik, I know.

Anyhow, my all time favorite stores will still be Mothercare & H&M Kids and recently fell in love with Zara Kids too. But of course I rembat most of the items during sale period because price wise it will still be affordable and reasonable. In my experience, those shirts and pants from these three brands that have been washed countless of time, in and out the dryer, are still good as new. Well worth buying la kononnya :P

Or maybe because I love ironing *muahahaha* so that kinda helps to maintain the new-look of their clothes. Yeah call me the rare mommy-species who just loves ironing but seriously, I love to see their clothes in the wardrobe all ironed and ready to wear. Ok, dah off topic masuk household task hehe. Oh by the way, my few months old Electrolux steamed iron just went kaput few weeks ago, my neighbor cakap I dah over-worked that poor iron haha.

To sum up, I just love buying clothes for my kids because I want them to look good and handsome and PRESENTABLE (biar ada hingus pun tetap hensem hahaha). Or the truth is, I think in today's society, MOST people judge others by the way they look, kan kan kan??? And even if you say NO you shouldn't, majority of the population will still do. Sad fact here. Yes there is more to someone than their appearance but initial impression of someone always from their look kan?

As far as I'm concern, I'm just doing my best as a mom :) And I'm pretty sure that I got this from my Abah, so here I'm repeating the same to my kids. ^_____^

P/S: Pantang tok nenek kalau pakai baju tak iron. It's a big NO NO and I just can't tolerate that.

Shorten Kid's Jeans the Easiest Way

Shorten Kid's Jeans the Easiest Way

Tadaaaa! Just roll up neatly to the desired length haha. No cutting, no sewing, quick fix and absolutely EASY :P

The truth is, I tend to go overboard when shopping for my boys (toys, foods, shirts, shoes) except for jeans haha. I don't know but I'm a bit berkira when buying new pants, jeans particularly, for them. Look, those jeans are from good brands -- Mothercare, GAP and Miki Kids and obviously they are made from high quality material which are supposed to be durable for a long time wear (with adjustable waist of course). So, to buy another pair of jeans just because the boys keep getting taller yet the waist still fit just right, is just plain membazir

Ok fine, mainly because jeans are costly, that's it hehehe :P

After all, jeans are just one of the best fashion items that can never go out of trend no matter how you style them, hence turning a pair of outgrown jeans into capris, I think it still looks fashionable and cool on them hehe. K-pop inspired perhaps.

For kids' jeans, this method works just fine but for an adult, I'm not so sure, because in most situation, we will only do this just to keep the pants dry rather than for a fashion look (trying not to get wet; raining, beach, etc).

Happy 4th Birthday Adam Haris!

Happy 4th Birthday Adam Haris!

From this (made in 2008, lokasi rahsia haha)...

To this (April 2009, Pantai Hospital Bangsar)

To this (Apr 2010, Frankfurt Germany)

Then this (Apr 2011, Singapore)

Then this (Apr 2012, Tanjung Aru Sabah)

And now the latest you! (Apr 2013, Rumah Jaja! place where you spend half of your life at)

Happy 4th Birthday My Dear Darling Electron! Macam mana elektron selalu ada dalam elektrik, macam tu lah Adam selalu ada dalam Mama.

Cuma, please, jangan besar cepat sangat. Like SERIOUSLY. I know, being the eldest, memang semulajadi sifat matang, bertanggungjawab, konfiden tu pasti akan ada. But doing some Physics stuff and Math at 2am when you had a temperature, that freaks me out! I'm sure I didn't gobble down any extra Neurogain supplement when I was pregnant with you. Semua makan ikut arahan T____T

Oh! Oh! Could it be that FAT Burung Wak Wak? Mungkinlah, mungkin.

You my Mr. Lovely Man, yang selalu caring dah prihatin di jiwa, Mama harap akan selalu kekal penyayang sampai bila-bila. Because you never know, however small your care, tender and loving heart, it definitely makes a difference in someone's life.

And still is now. Tetap sungguh pendirian. Bagus. Sebab Mama dulu, dari angkasawan, saintis sampailah ke ahli bomba, semua pekerjaan ada dalam senarai. But I ended up being a number crunching person which was not in the list at all. -_______-"

And yes, Mama doakan juga that you will be the next golf prodigy, son. You have demonstrated your talent, skill and interest in golf since you were only two, or maybe earlier tapi Mama tak notice. The way you swing, as if you have been playing the game all this while. Macam pro sangat, macam dah pergi proper junior golf lesson. However, the only thing that I no like here is when we have to berebut Astro channel as your all time favorite is 815. Golf show pagi petang siang malam. T___T

We never know what the future holds but with your deep interest, ability and potential, Mama will always pray to Allah, may one day you become world's best golfer, Insyaallah. Mama mampu doa sajalah anak. So, in the spirit of "Malaysia Boleh!", Mama wishes you Selamat Maju Jaya. Semoga menjadi sebahagian daripada kejayaan sehebat Datuk Nicol David and Datuk Lee Chong Wei. :) Depa masa kecik dulu pun belemoih jugak, mana mak pak depa tau dapat anak Juara Dunia. Nothing impossible in this world son. Adik Aiman? Owh yang ini lebih berpotensi jadi rugby player and wall climbing. Itu berdasarkan observation semasa Mama. Hehe.

Very happy dapat his own golf club from Tok Abah :)
