Babyshop The Curve

Babyshop The Curve

Babyshop tu nama kedai ok. Yang SANGAT BEST. Babyshop ni kira leading baby store dekat Middle East la, started in Bahrain and lepas tu ke negara-negara lain.

Masa mula-mula kedai ni buka dekat The Curve, macam takda orang masuk pun. Like seriously kosong je, tak crowded pun even during weekend. Then ada hari bila tah I pergi The Curve, tiba-tiba tengok banner "SALE 60%". Ohmaiiii 60%! Dasar suka benda discout kan haha. So I masuk la kedai tu for the first time.

Surprisingly, the original price tags (most of the items) tak mahal punnn. Shirts, pants, prewalker shoes banyak je below RM50. Maybe sebab rupa dia very wow or the brand itself belum famous dekat Malaysia, so orang tak masuk, kot?

The best part is the toy section dekat bahagian belakang kedai. Macam orang tak tengok pun. Padahallll that whole place ada super cool toys at discount! Again, even tak discount still very cheap. Kalau rasa Barbie, Nerf, Hotwheels macam tu mahal, come get something similar to it (in term of design and quallity) dekat sini. Masa I pergi ni tengah 30% sale pulak, apa lagi borong laaaa. For future kononnya haha. Hopefully Alana berminat main doll la, jangan buat hal nak main Marvel toys ke Nerf ke apa pulak.

For mommy to be, this is shop is a must visit ok? Baby blanket comel, baby outfit comel, bedding, bathing items semua comel ok. And again, stroller dia murah. Stroller lawa tapi baru 400+. I dah terpengaruh ngan stroller pink ni, tapi we already have like ermmm 3 strollers at home.

And this is my favourite place now sebab I boleh beli macam-macam accessories dekat Alana, bracelet, hairband, necklace all in toddler size. Biasalah Mummy selalu over hehe.

Nah, gambar for reference. Lepas tu pergi visit sendiri ok kedai dia. Hari tu I tolong few of my IG followers beli dolls from Babyshop ni, sampai nak clear satu rak haha. Datang lagi lepas tu, staff dia dah kenal muka sisthur Shilashower ini hehe. :P

Aiman Haris and Dual Language Program (Standard 1 DLP)

Aiman Haris and Dual Language Program (Standard 1 DLP)

AIMAN HARIS. AFTER ONE YEAR OF DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM

(Entry mainly based on personal experience, saya bukan Cikgu, bukan jugak parent yang bersungguh-sungguh push anak. Teachers maybe boleh provide better explanation here).

Dalam seminggu lepas, ada few friends whatsapp kita, tanya macam mana Aiman dengan DLP dia. Maybe ramai yang anak nak masuk darjah satu 2018 and dah pergi buat ujian saringan kan? Test untuk placing class tuuu. Or maybe test kepada nak tahu budak mana boleh membaca, boleh menulis, kenal huruf and whatnot.

Pemerhatian:
Banyak parents suka skip test ni. Entah kenapa. Nanti masa orientation tak puas hati pulak bila anak tak dapat kelas yang diharapkan (read: kelas pertama). Dah kalau semua nak kelas pertama, siapa nak duk kelas dua tiga empat lima haha. Go for the test. Senang cikgu nak evaluate, komplen-komplen di hari orientasi tak membantu apa pun, even if you bring results 5 stars 100% anak masa tadika.

Kita orang masa bawa Aiman amik test tu, sempat la intai tepi tingkap (dekat nak habis waktu ujian), and ternampaklah soalan yang RASANYA lah, image rumah, bola and apetah. And rasanya jugak, murid kena tulis perkataan tu, kita orang tengok Aiman tulis maigoddddd panjang perkataan dia hahaha. So instead of BALL, dia macam AQYTRSQOAELLL something like that.

Amak redho lah anak apa pun jawapan muuu. Sebab masa tu, Aiman boleh tulis huruf perfectly from A to Z, tapi Aiman tak pandai mengeja dan membaca. BM paling kong, English certain words dia reti la. Math dia ok (addition & substraction) tapi dia tak pandai baca, so macamana dia nak faham arahan.

Aiman from Brainy Bunch. Not sure dia belajar apa, tapi Aiman ni pun kuat ponteng tadika haha. Sebab dia memang menangis macam kena dera everytime nak pergi tadika. Dia taknak sekolah. Nak duk rumah dengan Mummy. So kalau dia tak pickup as much as other kids did, tak salah sekolah sangat, dah dia pun selalu skip school hehe.

Bila results kedudukan kelas darjah 1 keluar, Aiman dapat kelas 1 Bijak (of course not the front one haha) dah jawab pun macam mambang tanah mambang air bagai. Takpe, no problem. Yakinlah pada cikgu Aiman nanti, maybe they have better skill to teach him later.

Then standard one kids ni ada another LINUS test kot, dalam seminggu pertama lepas masuk sekolah. Masa ni baru sekolah short listed children yang layak masuk Dual Language Program (Math Science in English). And Aiman dapat surat tu. Kita orang macam, "ehhh cikgu ni salah Aiman ke apa haha". Tapi pergi jugaklah briefing tu, dengar apa Guru Besar explain secara detail. Then I pergi jumpa Cikgu Kelas dia. Tanya, on what basis Aiman being selected? Cikgu dia cakap, "ohhhh Aiman ni results dia ngam-ngam pass je, tapi kita perhati dia boleh bertutur Bahasa Inggeris dengan baik. Tanya full sentence, jawab balik pun full sentence". (TQ Brainy Bunch for this hahaha sebab mother tongue di rumah ialah BAHASA KEDAH hahah).

The only problem masa tu, kita kena decide ON THE SPOT lepas briefing tu, setuju atau tak anak kita masuk kelas DLP. Ok, actually lepas Aiman bagi surat taklimat and tawaran tu, kita ada dalam 2-3 hari untuk decide. Tapi sebelum decide, mesti nak dengar dulu taklimat, apa benda DLP ni and macam mana masa depan program ni. Maklumlah, sistem pendidikan Malaysia ni kan ala-ala tak tetap pendirian sikit hehehe.

So ini yang kita dapat fikir masa tu, the good and the not so good part of it lah.

Good:

  • Science & Math in English. Hang masuk Uni nanti pun English jugak Haaaa berpandangan jauh sampai Uni gitu hehe. Of course la, I'm a mother. Mak kena visual yang elok-elok untuk anak, jadinya nanti doa yang elok juga. Slow macam mana anak tu, visual and doa jugak yang elok. Some kids are just late bloomer tau.
  • Competitive la sikit nanti, tak la melenggang kangkung ja Aiman tu. Sebab mesti kids dengan certain kelayakan yang terpilih, so Aiman nanti mesti nak berusaha catch up sama dengan kawan-kawan (part ni kita kena kenal pasti juga perangai anak, cepat give up ke, malas nak try ke macam mana ke).
Not so good:

  • Tak boleh switch class dah. No turning back katanya. Let say along the way rasa macam dia tak boleh catch up, TAK BOLEH TUKAR KELAS aliran biasa. Nak tukar jugak? KENA TUKAR SEKOLAH. Ok this one, I taktau kenapa. Mungkin tak dengar masa Guru Besar explain, tapi macam tu lah keadaan dia.

  • Standard 1 DLP, sampai habis sekolah menengah lah DLP. So kena make sure ada sekolah menengah area rumah kita yang offer DLP jugak. Otherwise, sila lah ulang alik ke sekolah yang lebih jauh.

  • Kalau nak pindah kawasan, pun kena cari sekolah baru yang offer DLP jugak. Ini sedikit parah. Tapi benda tak jadi, toksah dok pikiaq buat teruk. Pikiaq hat dok ada depan mata dulu.
  • Possibility of terms lebih susah bila in English especially bila dia move to upper primary and apatah lagi secondary school. But honestly, bila tengok buku Adam Haris darjah 1 dalam Bahasa Melayu, things already so complicated. Takda beza, so hadap je lah.
  • Kemampuan parents untuk bantu anak dalam pembelajaran nanti. I've met few parents yang terpaksa tolak DLP sebab "saya tak pandai BI, nanti macam mana saya nak ajar anak saya." Point to consider as well.

  • And ada parents yang doubt jugak kemampuan cikgu-cikgu. Guru Besar cakap, takde new teachers yang akan datang untuk handle DLP class. Still the same teachers yang ada dalam sekolah, cuma they will arrange for teachers yang lebih experience untuk ajar DLP class. Itu lah bahasa mudah dia. Maksudnya, takde la anak kita ni kelas DLP, tiba-tiba dapat cikgu baru Math Science dari Harvard, Oxford ke apa hehehe. Tapi kita orang takde masalah part ni. Bukan semua terletak atas cikgu, kalau mak pak pun malas tengok pelajaran anak, jangan la nak komplen-komplen memanjang. Kena sama-sama.

WHAT WE DID?

Eii. Ingat senang nak decide lepas briefing tu? Masa depan anak kita kot. Dia jugak nanti yang nak kena belajar. So lepas dah observed Aiman habis-habis, Aiman lebih mudah faham arahan in English. Kalau Bahasa Melayu baku, dia lambat sikit. Berbekalkan keyakinan dia boleh bertutur BI tu (walaupun ada grammar dia langgarkan aje haha), Inshaallah dia boleh faham la apa cikgu ajar nanti (Math and Science) dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Sebab masa tu takda beza pun mengeja membaca BM or BI sebab both pun dia tak berapa boleh.

And kita orang bagi dia DUA SET SOALAN preschool. Ala level tadika tu je. Both in BM & BI. Suruh dia buat, tengok yang mana dia lebih cepat faham and nak jawab. Walaupun some soalan dia tikam hahah. Then dia prefer BI. Lepas dah consider Aiman lebih cenderung nak faham Math and terms Science in English, and rasanya Inshaallah support circle dia strong jugak untuk ajar dia (read: Maktok cikgu BI hahaha) so kami setuju nak masukkan dalam kelas DLP.

Tapi, sebab ni first batch, so nak cari buku revision amatlah susah. Which last sekali I beli from MPH ONLINE. Isk, kalau tau dari awal, takde la susah payah pusing sana sini. Sebab bila call bookshop tanya stock, some macam tak familiar je dengan buku DLP ni isk isk. Kita orang beli buku Sasbadi. Good one, boleh beli online. Takyah nak susah bazir minyak petrol yang mahal zaman sekarang ni, pusing-pusing cari buku. Online je. Now dah ada from Pelangi as well. So untuk standard one DLP 2018 tak susah dah, sebab dah ada few sets revision books. Sama je structure soalan, cuma beza bahasa.

Fast forward. Aiman punya performance now is beyond expectation. He entered standard one dengan tak reti mengeja dan membaca, then improve sikit-sikit then tadaaaa performed quite well masa final exam baru ni. WELL untuk piawai kami Mummy Ayah dia haha. Kita orang pun tak pulun sangat sebab malam sebelum exam kami anak beranak dok bergolek depan TV main Monopoly aahhahaha.

Tapi dalam kami dok rasa "Aiman Tak Kisahhhhh" rupanya dia kisah jugak. Dia kata, ala, dapat semua A pun, ada kawan-kawan lain dapat banyak 100. I swear. Kita orang tak pernah pun suruh dia score certain marks ke apa. Asalkan ada improvement, baru darjah 1 je kot, apa nak stress teruk. Apapun, memang berterima kasih sangat dekat cikgu-cikgu Aiman, from zero to hero in just few months, magis betul kuasa mengajar guru sekolah rendah ni. And sabar too I must say. Thank you, thank you. Siapa pun Aiman selepas ni, it started with his std 1 teachers yang ajar dia membaca dulu.

Not to make him feel bad, sebab dapat number 12 baru ni, Mummy raikan jugak. Makan Scampi Shrimp Pasta. Dia ni tau makan je haha. Belanja sama Abang dengan Adik, equal value. Takda sapa lebih, takda sapa kurang. Sama-sama pun good job. Sebab kalau Abang belajar Adik pun belajar. Bila Abang main game, Adik lagi sama naik main game.

So to DLP or not to, sama-sama bergantung kepada anak and parents. Push your kids excessively tapi parents taknak chip in, tak jadi apa. Jadi stress. Lagi stress kalau dok bising dalam group Whatsapp kelas anak. (Syukur group whatsapp parents kelas Adam and Aiman all ok, takde yang merepek-repek cerewet, all very helpful too).

A Trip to Legoland Malaysia

A Trip to Legoland Malaysia

Long overdue post. As usual hehe.

Pergi masa bulan December 2016, cuti sekolah. Trip "buat gila" kita orang panggil. Sebab tak plan pun nak pergi Legoland tapi my husband came with the idea "jom pegi day trip Legoland, surprisekan Adam & Aiman".

-______-"

Of course I said yes dulu, janganlah say no yer, nanti apa pun tak boleh hehehehe, konsepnya janji keluar KL haha but then I suggested why not overnight satu hari, at least boleh merambu ramba dekat JPO hehe. Sebab last minute, jenuh jugak nak search hotel yang available but we managed to score a really good deal for a hotel room on Traveloka website. Thistle JB super peak season (a day before Christmas) for only RM220 inclusive tax. Yes, no kidding. :)

Ok fast forward to the whole Legoland story, first ialah survey tickets. Memang jenuh mengira jugak, sebab nak compare which deals yang paling menjimatkan. Maybank that time ada discount, MyKad holder ada special rates, then ada Legoland Buy 1 and 2nd at 50% something like that, but we finally used this. The voucher we got from Ali Cafe Instant Coffee. 1 Full Price Adult Ticket = 1 FREE Kid Ticket. Basically untuk keluarga kami 2+2, kira beli 2 tiket dewasa, free 2 tiket kanak-kanak hehe. Yang ni option paling jimat untuk kita orang :P

First the WEATHER. It was hot (blazing sun!) and humid, so for kids please please, sunhat and sunblock is a must. There are few misting stations and shade spots but most often tak stop pun at any of it. Oh mineral water too, pandai-pandailah susun dalam bag, they do check the bags (usual procedure for any theme park kan), but just a quick one tho, so kalau hang sumbat periuk nasi at the bottom pun lepas kot haha. Ok main-main je. What I meant is kalau setakat roti, biscuits, burger, boleh je sorok-sorok hehe. The rule is no outside foods allowed, so pandai-pandailah.

Second, the CROWD. This one, to our surprise, there were almost no lines for the rides. Except a couple for the roller-coaster rides, other than that we breezed through the attractions with almost no waiting time. Ok max 5 minutes I think, tapi tak kira lah sebab kalau Disneyland tu, 15 minutes pun dah kira short time beratur hehe.

Third, the FOODS. IMHO, food was average. I imagine meriah la sedap hehe sebab local kan tapi hmmmm, boleh je lah. Mediocre. Tu yang menyesal tak seludup Burger King dalam beg hehehe. One meal set at the average of RM30, in a no-sharing portion. Serious, memang kalau share tak cukup hehe. Eh ke kita orang lapar? :P However, still considered quite cheap as compared to what we paid in USS and Disneyland hehe, sebab ni bayar in RM yer dok?

Fourth, the RIDES. Overall, the rides are good. Fun and interactive for the kids. Tapi kalau ikhlas cakap, Legoland is suitable for families with toddlers and young kids (below 10). Teenagers and above, Universal Studio is a lot better; due to the limitation of adrenaline-rush kind of rides. Disneyland wins lah apa-apa pun, sebab cater for all. Even Tokwan and Maktok enjoy the whole place.

The highlight of all is the Legoland Junior Driving School. Adam & Aiman truly enjoyed this as they get to be behind the wheel of their own Lego car and drive around the city street. The ride really look like a real world; they feel all grown up when driving around. They even got their own driving license.

Fifth, the ATTRACTIONS. Lego Miniland (miniature towns of certain Asian countries) definitely my favorite. So does everyone else lah kot, the attention to detail was amazing. Mesti nak posing beria dekat sini hehe.

Sixth, the LEGO STORE. Seriously, not as much merchandise and lego set as expected. Those Lego stores in KL lagi best rasanya. If you think the Lego set here is cheaper, heck no, same or even more expensive, as you can get a discounted set from online sellers (kalau pandai cari hehe).

The rest, toilets were clean, tak kotor pun seperti yang diseramkan hehe. Surau pun besar and bersih. Another important tips, please bring extra shirts. Walaupun nama dia Theme Park, there are few rides that will get you all wet. Unless you don't mind to buy the rain-cover from the Lego store, tapi mahal la hehe.

Lockers of different sizes available too and ATM machines pun ada dekat entrance. Overall, the theme park is well maintained. :) Tapi kalau repeat anytime soon, rasanya tak lah kot hehehehe.

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream & Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream & Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence

Good products deserve good reviews.

I've been using the departmental-store beauty products for many years (since teenage days) but somehow dah tak banyak significant improvement after the age of 30. Hahaha maybe tak sesuai to combat the fine lines that started to make its debut on face. Some texture macam greasy, some macam very thick and kadang-kadang adalah buat DIY mask at home ahahaha tapi maybe the content tak cukup anti-aging active ingredients that able to penetrate deeply into skin. T___T

So I started to change to something from the drug store pulak, mid price range (affordable!) and most importantly it comes with good reviews over the internet. After giving a try to few anti-aging products (don't laugh that I actually switch from whitening to anti-aging haha) over past one year, I'm actually quite happy with the results by Olay.

In specific, Olay Miracle Duo product range. Yes, the ones in red packaging.

Actually facial wash Olay Total Effects foaming cleanser memang dah lama sangat guna with Olay Total Effects cream and since I trusted the brand for quite sometime, I rasa nak try anti-aging regime pulak. After a month of using it, hasil dia memang sangat memberangsangkan.

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, memang awesome! The texture absorbs quickly into skin, after apply pun kulit muka rasa smooth je, hydrate the skin really well; which definitely a great base before applying foundation. One great result lepas guna micro sculpting ni (which I think it provides better result since I combine with Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence) ialah kulit muka rasa lebih fresh, pores and fine lines under my eyes pun not too visible now (this area is one tough job, but a slight improvement pun dah happy ok).

This is Olay's bestselling anti-aging moisturiser and totally works wonder to hydrate and renew the skin (so rasa lebih firm and lift up), sure nampak lebih muda lagi kan. Lagi satu product Olay Regenerist yang you all kena cuba (if fine lines and awet muda is your major concern hehe) is Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence. I memang easily sold by the words like "boost" "youth" "young" "serum" "essence" dan seangkatan, rasa macam apply something really concentrated that can help to improve skin metabolism and renewal. Something yang penetrate deeply into skin.

This essence is very light-weight, boleh kata macam watery, bila apply terus absorb into skin. Hydrating, not oily (yeay!) and dia macam ada satu feeling lepas apply tu, kulit muka rasa silky and firm. Macam mana eh nak explain, tapi rasa wahhhh nice to touch lah. Hehe. Plus, the bottle cap which works as a dropper itself; open, press and dispense the essence onto your palm, so you will get just the right amount to cover face and neck area, jadi takla nak membazir.

And paling penting, Olay Miracle Duo beauty regime doesn't cause any break-outs on my face! Ini yang paling penting sebenarnya. Tak semua products yang kita cuba sebenarnya sesuai dengan kulit muka kita. Some looks wow but maybe tak suit Asian skin macam I ni, yang kulit tak cerah sangat, combination jugak rasanya hehe. I’m glad that my skin suits well with Olay Miracle Duo product range ni, probably the texture yang light and airy (as the name goes MICRO-SCULPTING), dia memang very fine sebab tu tak clog kulit muka kita. Those yang greasy and thick memang tak sesuai dengan my skin, dia macam create another layer on my face, so dirt senang melekat kat muka which probably increase the likelihood for breakouts.

Walaupun no dramatic improvement as yet, but to get my skin hydrated (even better than before), less visible fine lines (not totally disappear yet haha) and smaller pores, I dah happy for now. Of course nothing happen overnight, this is not a magic elixir that kapooooffff pakai hari ni, esok jadi Miss World ehehehe but in combination of the moisturiser, essence and night cream, religiously applied (two times a day), I yakin my skin will get better. Better combat the first signs of aging now, if later lagi banyak kerja kena buat hehe.

Here are some anti-aging tips for you ladies, mari lah menjaga kemudaan and keremajaan kulit muka bersama-sama hehehehe..

  • Focus what body needs first, then skin. Means, take supplements and drink plenty of water. Vitamin D and Omega-3 are good for skins and water, 8 glasses at least per day.

  • Halve the sun exposure. UV rays damages skin elastin and causes loss of collagen which then lead to wrinkles and fine lines. It also adds to discoloration and roughens skin texture. So always apply your sunblock. SPF-30 at least.

  • Pick beauty products that helps skin to regenerate cells and bring back the youth. Of course lah we can’t turn back the clock zaman muda remaja, but if can get and maintain at something closer to that and slower the rate of getting wrinkles and dull skin, why not. Olay Miracle Duo (Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream + Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence) is definitely something you have to try on.

  • Keep your daily makeup routine simple. Well, ini macam clear cut. If everyday apply thick makeup, foundation, concealer and what not, mesti ada kesan dekat kulit muka kan. And lagi teruk kalau tak bersihkan betul-betul. So I guess it easier if can keep the routine simple. Macam I, after applying Miracle Boost Pre-Youth Essence terus guna two way compact powder. Cukuplah, no need thick foundation lagi. Hehe. Kadang-kadang when needed, baru apply bb cream but not everyday.
Ok that’s all for the tips. Very basic, definitely easy to do.

Nanti kita review lagi apa hasil dia selepas beberapa minggu nanti ok?

Check out website ni untuk more info https://www.everydayme.com.my/olay

Went to Japan last August. A whole lot of walking, from morning till night time, but look, muka tetap hydrate and tak berminyak. Tu la happy sangat, maybe minimal open pores, so kurang berminyak muka walaupun jalan kaki panas merata Tokyo hehe...

Perth - Thrifty Car Hire and Mahira Holiday Homes

Perth - Thrifty Car Hire and Mahira Holiday Homes

Yuhuuuuu!

I'm back! I know it's been a while since the last update and maybe some of you probably think that I've given up on blogging hehe. No, not just yet. Anyway, I hope you guys are still interested in my blog. :P

I have a long list of interesting and fun stories to share on the blog, mainly travel related posts, so today I decided to start with our Perth trip (Nov 2015, 11A + 3C) focusing on car hire and accommodation, which many people been whatsapp-ing me for the details.

CAR HIRE.

We chose Thrifty. Well, we compared few but finally decided on Thrifty as it was the cheapest for the vehicles we were getting and got all major requirement checked. Most importantly to include "Unlimited KM" and "Full Insurance Coverage" (zero excess, tyre/windscreen/hail damage coverage, 24hr roadside assistance) so we can drive with a complete peace of mind. Plus, we added one baby seat for my niece (2yo) whereas Adam and Aiman were strapped safely in the back seat (they were too tall for booster seats).

We rented Hyundai iMax and Mitsubishi ASX, an intermediate van and a wagon, but if you are looking for something smaller, compact maybe, Bayswater car hire is cheaper. However, they don't operate from the airport, so you need to pay the extra cost to get the car ready at the airport.

Total amount paid, as below. Hope this helps for your travel-mathematical works hehe.

Able to sumbat all this and 11 adults plus 3 kids into iMax and Mitsu. :P

HOUSE.

As for the house, I think we really hit the jackpot by staying here. The house was definitely large and comfortable enough to have place all of us (4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, if not mistaken a total of 7 queen size beds!). Well equipped kitchen, washing machine, dryer, aircond/heater, massive patio area with bbq set, linen and towels all provided. The best part is Stockland Riverton Shopping Centre is just a walk away from home. (Woolworths there!). Beautiful neighborhood, quite and close to Canning River too.

Visit Mahira Holiday Homes website for their contact details. A Malaysian owned company, so don't be surprised if you see a fully loaded pantry with Maggi, Kicap Kicap Udang, Sup Bunjut and whatnot. Just like us, when we tak habis consume the foods we brought into Aussie land (Maggi, Kicap ABC, spices, can foods) we sort of stocking up the pantry for the next guests too hehe.

Ok, done with the above. I shall sambung next time with Tokyo Airbnb review pulak okies? :)

Booked online, pay later at the counter using credit card (make sure to validate your overseas usage prior leaving the country).

Car rental bay. Collection and return process went smoothly.

Want to see what we cooked over the 5 days stay? Antaranya.
